Piping

Neil has been playing the pipes for approximately 20 years. He is a member of the Scots Guards Association Pipe Band and performs regularly with the band and for solo functions including weddings, funerals, Burns Suppers, New Years Eve parties and birthday celebrations.

Neil is Honorary Piper to the Burns Club of London, as well as being a past president of the club.

A Typical Performance

There is no such thing as a typical piping performance. Every function is different, and requires a different approach. Neil is always happy to work to the client’s requirements. However, he is equally happy to discuss the event beforehand and to offer suggestions as to what is likely to work best to achieve the desired effect.

The Style of a Piper

Neil will always perform in traditional highland dress. The style of dress is chosen to be appropriate to the occasion; for less formal occasions, a jacket and tie may be more appropriate, while for formal occasions, such as Burns Suppers or weddings, either evening dress or military style full dress would be worn.

Performing

Neil has many years of experience performing all over the world, including Scotland, the Channel Islands, France, Slovenia, Poland, Canada and Peru, as well as countless performances in and around the London area, where Neil is based. Recent appearances have included performances on BBC and ITV television, functions at the Caledonian Club and the Savoy Hotel and functions for the Lord Mayor of London.

Both Neil and Amanda have the experience to provide a truly professional performance for any function, however large or prestigious. They are also equally at home performing for small family functions, and anything in between.

Piping & Highland Dancing

Neil often joins forces with his wife, a Scottish Highland Dancer, for performances and special occasions. Providing the best in Scottish displays, the husband and wife team can also bring their expertise together to organise full Scottish Displays including highland dancers, ceilidh dancing, other Scottish musicians and even a full pipe band if required.
